Greg Fenton reviews Dharma – One Clean Sock – R&S Records

Feeding into your soul like a last-minute wake-up call, the spectacle might not remain the same afterwards. Dharma’s incendiary escape, fueling all stereo angles, reflects malaise without words but does so loudly and clearly enough that you take immediate notice. The blend of contemplation seeks out the edges through pulsating bass, whirring synthesizers, plus electronics adding punctuation and a wildcard of rhythmic excess on the hard-to-categorise charm of the brilliant One Clean Sock.

Questions feels warmer in contrast, highlighted by undulating bass, crisp percussion, and hints of chiming melody dancing around the corners, as the culmination of the sublime tales unfolds. Again, this brings together many different ideals, channelled in an exciting, imaginative way, holding creativity and forward motion in pursuit of bliss through music at its very heart.
