Midiminuit comprises of: pianist Julien Quentin, bass player Yonatan Levi and electronic musicians Cesar Merveille & Adrien de Maublanc (Masomenos). They sound like the escape of Free Jazz expanding into the electrical mainframe. The sounds fizz, sometimes agitate, sometimes soothe and yet there is always the explosive flair of musicality running throughout the duration. This is the second album created by the collective and is a furthering exploration of all things possible. It plays like soundtrack to an evening’s intrigue in a location you would actually like to find yourself in as moods and intensity find increasingly exciting places and spaces to tempt, tease and evolve. The place in question of course being Hôtel Costes in Paris, where incidentally the album was also recorded. Neat. No point in going through the process of describing each individual track as this is best enjoyed in its entirety, perhaps with a stiff drink or something robustly tasty at hand.
