Jazzy sounds are always a welcome addition to these pages. Although perhaps we don’t engage with as much of the genre as we would like its echo is always present throughout everything we do. So it’s with pleasure that Natural Lateral serve this motivating selection of fiery notes and attitude amalgamating a fusion of sounds from across the spectrum. The slow, sumptuous grooves of Days With Amber are highlighted by the blast of breathy saxophone, while the percussive flavour of the spacey Stalagmite secures the diversity of the list. Bossa Blue which opens the set is a joyous chorus of chiming electric piano and shuffling rhythms setting the tone for all that is to come. Social Joy Records is event/ radio-show/ label based in London and as the name suggests is something we could do with more of in these uncertain days….
