As you know it gives me great pleasure to champion music that doesn’t quite so readily slot into neat categories, precise sounding recreations of history. It’s much more exciting looking at what exists towards the edges. Pushing, probing at the electronic potential rather than tireless re-edits of what has already been. A case in point is this refreshing collection of bruising ambience, Detroit references and heightened cinema. Feeling space aged, kind of cosmic and by and large purely instrumental the tracks come in all shapes and forms rushing through tempos, while downplaying moods. In ways it’s the haunting opening, Space Probe Taurus that works best for me fizzing with atmosphere and tension. But maybe that’s just me, try for yourself and seize the distraction.
