Burial Grid – Waves of Quietus

Is feeling uneasy more comfortable these days. A more relevant place to inhabit. Like surroundings befitting the everyday news and parade of uncertainties. Burial Grid’s tales of intrigue and mystery set fire to the synapsis like dreams coming true, albeit they may be disturbing, unquiet experiences to relive. Then again I very much like the fact that the intensity is served hot and cold throughout, alongside the subsequent fizzing, fever pitch of ideas as they gather so effectively with such intent. Try the opening A Gale of Tranquility for a taste as nervous tension finds release in waves of yearning, synthesized sound. Whereas pieces like Solus chime with a hopeful sense of melodic probability. Or the seemingly sublime reaches of Last Sequoia on Earth which concludes this striking album via a breath of poignant, almost spiritual, happiness locked into its wash of pads, notes and the sound of atoms charging in readiness. Also, while taking a step back from the sequence you will find the notably apt title, A Derangement of the Senses speeding soaring arpeggios against brutal thumps of dark electricity, which perhaps shouldn’t work together quite so brilliantly but does so most wonderfully. A conversation of souls.
