Two things are of the upmost importance. The first being aid given to the Alzheimer’s Society, the second of course being the music itself. Not only does this set of artists compliment the intention they do so in a permanent, impactful way. Each was asked to develop a piece of music around a no longer than five second sample and the results are imaginative and explosive. Occupying different timescales there is a surprising wealth of mood and atmosphere lending themselves to an exploration of how sound functions, which can at times be deeply uneasy, at others much more serene such as on Etxera’s exquisite Downpour. Although, in ways this almost isn’t about individual artists, more about collective meaning. himHallow has also contributed a series animated covers to further expand the generated potential.
