Magazine Sixty Music Review with Basch

Greg Fenton reviews Basch – Forever-Jan Pt.1 – Polycarp Records

Nothing lasts over five minutes, but this sensual collection of timely pieces collectively evokes a full range of emotions from joy to pain and all the moments in between. From the cosmically inspired Intro introducing the EP with atmospheric sonic messages bundled into one, to the equally excellent Miniaturen, which combines chimming sensations with a sense of hope for the future.

On a moodier note, try the bold, booming beats and mysterious electronics of Leaving Oslo City Centre or the heavy, twisted nostalgia of Form Re-Edit. For hints of melody and playful escape, there is Mathematik, while the breathy, enticing edges of Epoxit Voices dance to a different, though no less exhilarating, tune. Overall, this compilation of past and present feels like a refreshing breath of air as we pass into Autumn 2025.

Release: September 26
