Greg Fenton reviews Caminauta – Unseen Dimensions – Wayside & Woodland Recordings

Continuing the expansion of the answer to the question about music without drums is this rather wonderful album, Unseen Dimensions. Given the title, it is much more about mystery and introspection, or at least the music allows your mind the freedom to dive into the depths of thought and emotion. For me, what sets this album apart from the humdrum of pre-programmed eternal drones is the musical aspect, played out through magnificent guitars and the way the sounds gather around a more musical storyline, adding further meaning and longevity. The Peace of Wild Things could almost be said to echo the flame of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

I also highly appreciate the variety of moods on offer. From gentle swoons to darker impressions, there is something for nearly everyone here, so to speak. Try Telling me what you dream, which allows that beautiful blend of happiness and sadness to coexist.
