Greg Fenton reviews CIRC – Rite
Four beautifully composed pieces adorn this latest release from CIRC. While drone-based music can sometimes rely too heavily on texture alone, these works reveal a deeper musicality. Layers of sound overlap and gently interact in a breath-like rhythm, creating a warm, hopeful atmosphere. Beneath the surface, subtle accumulations of notes emerge and recede, lending the music a timeless, almost classical sense of motion. The result is a collection that feels both meditative and quietly alive, with Quiet Light shining out as a particularly stunning highlight.
