Greg Fenton reviews cv313 + Federsen – Altering Dimensions – Alt/Dub
Altering Dimensions feels like a series of different realities rushing directly towards you. It creates a sense of reflective isolation that is simultaneously connected to everything else across a resolute, grainy cosmos. Contemplative and joyful as the same moments pass. Sounds evolve, undulating in layers of bass-heavy pulses, while the atmosphere surrounds you, drawing you into their deeper, intuitive exploration of heavenly rhythm. The art is in the craft.
Try the sizzling resonance crossing the Redsign version, which emphasises sonic temptation as the elements are brought to the forefront, revealing its full character while the low-end pulse is retracted into the background. The Dub then plays with the notation, offering yet another variation on the theme. Concluding are the tender revelations of the Reduction mix, which is left more open for inspection, tingling with gentle percussion as unfolding synthesisers roll over you in waves of rapid succession. Overall, another blissful, thought-provoking release from Alt/Dub.
