Greg Fenton reviews Dense & Pika – Funky Brown – All We Have Is Now
It’s about time this happened. Disco transgressed. Fucked with, reverence sped into reverse. You know the vocal refrain of Funky Town from here, there, and inevitably everywhere. You may not know how Dense & Pika have twisted and distorted the popish sentiments into something more brutal and real. The thumping drums driving the sentiment are above and beyond heavy defying the melody gloriously while turning discotheque into a more realistic proposition for the modern century. After all, it was all such a long time ago…six and a half minutes of pure ecstasy.
