Greg Fenton reviews Doubtingthomas – Clockwork – Suleiman Records

The music on Clockwork is about the rhythm of movement amidst the creative molecules surrounding and exciting the process. Starting with Stop for a Minute exploring that concept with clever interplay between melodic keys and percussion twirling around the grooves. The title track comes next feeling a touch deeper, and more reflective via its chiming succession of electronic tones expanding across almost eight minutes. Finally, Syncopation 1992 takes it down further with the strongest track on the release for me as notes dive into a blur of moodier atmospheres, assisted by sonically charged sound effects alongside the introduction of distant voices cumulating in a series of lost and found emotional responses.

Release: February 16
