Greg Fenton reviews Firmin – Heartcuts – Under The Palm Trees
Is it just me or does this remind you of Joy Division’s beautiful swansong, Atmosphere in more ways than one? That aside, as it’s a fine influence to maintain, this is a singular, rather wonderful piece of atmospheric music that absorbs melancholic and celebratory tones alike.
One mix to pull the heartstrings paced a seemingly gentle shuffle, nothing feels overly busy or rushed but remains direct and to the emotional point of delivery.
