Magazine Sixty Music Review with Joachim Spieth

Greg Fenton reviews Joachim Spieth – BLENDED II – AFFIN music

“I focused on atmosphere, depth and spatiality.”

You most certainly did. The expansiveness of this collection is striking — beautifully produced sounds that feel free in their transition between artist and listener. It delves into the wide-angled curve of being human, tracing highs and lows across a carefully sculpted synthetic reality.

The selection, drawn from an impressive back catalogue, touches the points where dub, techno and ambience meet, making their personal connections feel ever present. Luigi Tozzi’s Blue Dub version of Recall offers a serene exploration of electronic deepness, opening proud vistas of imagination. Joachim Spieth’s own Drain dives into liquid textures, while Undulatus Asperatus, created with Reggy Van Oers, shapes tension into something tactile. Each provides a moment suspended in sound.

The move into more atmospheric territory is equally compelling: the laidback contours of Recall, the exquisite drift of Rephrase, but that’s not to forget the pounding reality of Mammatus, again with Van Oers, which joins the dots while pushing the consequences outward.

It’s a compilation that feels both expansive and intimate — a deep, spatial journey through electronic expression.
