Greg Fenton reviews João Paulo Esteves da Silva and Samuel Rohrer – Fluttering Wings – Arjunamusic Records
As deep as it is personal, the communication between artist and listener is never more intensely rich than demonstrated by this story of lone piano and its various connecting parts. These are, in this instance, fizzy flashes of modern synthesis drifting in and out of view as persuasive hints of percussion provide occasional punctuation and heightened tension. The keys are particularly enticing producing melancholic yet rousing, romantically inclined notes and chords on this beautifully serene piece of heavenly music.
