Magazine Sixty Music Review with Laura Misch

Greg Fenton reviews Laura Misch – Alchemy – Ambient Rework EP – One Little Independent Records

Poignancy is never far away, and when you hear a piece of music that hits that spot, it can be a heartwarming revelation. With Laura Misch’s smouldering vocals and delicate keys, surrounded by a lush, swirling ambience, it’s easy to escape or fully immerse yourself in life’s heavenly highs and devilish lows.

This EP features the original version of Alchemy in its breathy glory, along with two eloquent remixes. The first is by Isobel Waller-Bridge, whose rework injects a smooth musicality into its sumptuous grooves, rich in atmosphere and echoing the animation of existence. The second by KMRU offers a particularly stunning take, with vocals underscored by timely precision, driving emotion into an altogether different avenue, eventually reaching a heavier, contrasting touch towards the end of the journey. Remarkable work.
