Greg Fenton reviews LOVEFOXY – On Da Table – WHP Records
Sometimes music is irresistible. Maybe because in this instance I get reminded of the hazy blur surrounding the latter part of the late 90s and consequent tribal rhythms echoing from the hearts of Vasquez, Tenaglia etc, that the thrill of this quick-fire gem finds an easy home.
First are the beats, or more precisely the kick drums, which bang like a celebration of circuitry, next the voices and snippets tempting the formation of something as close to dark ecstasy as possible, then come the edgy stabs varying in attack formation but never letting go. What’s not to love after all?
