Magazine Sixty Music Review with PAN ELECTRIC

Greg Fenton reviews PAN ELECTRIC – MFBH FIVE

Volume five in the series features five pieces of music by Matt Coldrick. Suspending the animation of life for a series of moments, the sounds you will discover are, by and large, gentle and inviting, haunting memories amid thoughts of past and present. The breathy harmony of sensuous voices beginning, Jakobs Other Ladder, is a beautiful timepiece that eventually transforms as the track extends beyond seventeen minutes, shifting shape into an array of pulsing keys. Blanket On The Beach follows a similar structure, with the music evolving throughout, developing ideas and instrumentation, ending with a melodic acoustic guitar. The same applies to the following piece, An Afternoon.

Outerlude features six strings intertwined with delicate, fluttering piano and heavier pads, creating expansive atmospheres and a sense of losing yourself in sensations as notes and moods wash over you. The album then leaves you with the chiming repetitions of Katzikistan, as effortless arpeggios weave across the stereo, culminating in beautiful bass playing that enhances realms of imagination.
