Greg Fenton reviews Pango – Helio – Pintai
Pango’s beautifully constructed low-slung Helio wraps listeners in a warm glow of soulfully infused musicality that is at once intensely inviting and evocative, filled with atmospheric rhythms and cosmic sounds alongside a heart brimming with future possibility.
Critilist then increases the tempo to a faster pace that feels ever vibrant and again channels the emotional flow fully. The chunkier Faehtar sounds excellent too, delivering a fierce combination of drums and heavy bass that explores a rich sonic landscape without holding back. Completing the release is the particularly wonderful Wardal, with its sprinkle of hazy, magical keys, evoking a jazzy feel like the cool end of a summer breeze. An ingenious, passionate piece of music that speaks volumes.
