Magazine Sixty Music Review with Scartip

Greg Fenton reviews Scartip – CRATE DUTY – Hypercolour Records

Does everything have to make complete and obvious sense all of the time? Or can we allow for error or mystery? Create Duty opens with a sound that resembles a twisted rendition of cinema gone rogue, altering perception and painting moody atmospheres alongside voices that repeatedly ask a question before breaking into something altogether more brutal. Driven by heady drums and a defiant blur of bass, this is simultaneously exciting and intriguing. Listen to it. There is depth and reward to be found in this breathless expanse of leftfield musicality.

Complimented by the rougher excess of Slipped, as the neatly persuasive percussion excites senses together with crumpled basslines and fittingly caustic electronics, suggesting brilliant sonic alternatives.

Release: September 5
