Making a welcome return after its initial release in 2015 on Osunlade’s Yoruba Records, Vince Watson’s composition feels just as exhilarating now as it did then. In fact, possibly even more so, given the light it shines in the face of dull nostalgia and readymade cliques. With that celebratory, truthful, musical quality enduring the test of time, the eloquent piano sprinkled throughout offers a joyful, melodic release, while the chugging bass and drums propel it all forward. Simply put, a beautiful piece of music.
Complemented by a fresh Floor Mix of ‘Reach For The Sun’, drenched in rich pads and piano, with the addition of selective electric piano chords, the music once again praises the heavens, echoing that timeless quality in any given situation that will no doubt cause both tracks to evoke the same feeling in 2036.
