Greg Fenton reviews Xan Tyler – You’re My Muse (Oddball Creatives Remix EP) – Ramrock Red Records
It’s the cool, sultry voice, the rumbling bassline paired with a sequence of sharp cinematic string stabs and lines, and the straightforward, earthy tribal drums that make these remixes from Oddball Creatives such a pleasure. Three brilliantly enticing versions explore different directions, though it’s tempting to say that the more sensual V2 Vocal Remix stands out in particular, supported by its warm chords and orchestral sensibilities while the vocals hover over the tension, waiting for the right moment to strike. However, it remains a close call. There’s also a fine instrumental at play, though I get the impression that the voice would only enhance its smouldering qualities. Another great release from Ramrock.
