Long players are still very much an important factor in the makeup of today’s digital output. Especially when they are worth spending some time with. Developed around the inspiration gained from a recent trip to NYC Sable Blanc has produced an elegant, purposeful collection of tracks, each telling their own story. There’s a nice interplay between the feel of real instrumentation and the pulse of electronics surrounding the musicality. And for me the jazzy moments such as Limo And Theatre (feat. Reuben Lewis) are particularly telling as cool trumpet blasts ignite the autumn air, conversely the quick-fire sequence of piano notes seek out a fitting ending on the tastefully atmospheric, Yakima Pepperoni. The album is accompanied by a series of photographs alongside explanations to reveal the thought process involved and how the artist arrived finally at Homecoming.
