There is something almost eerie, yet so soothingly compelling, about the first of three productions from V aka Vidmantas Cepkauskas that 1995 leaves you feeling lost somewhere in time. It’s a beautifully resonate piece of music that chimes with history while probing at contemporary sensibilities as classic drum machine sounds are offset against heady voices and successive, atmospherically tuned keys. 2017 then provides a more awkward sense of melody twisting its notation towards an uneasy reading of the present, leaving 2001 to hit you via big drums and punky vocal stabs. A remix by Fabrizio Mammarella follows with brisk beats adding fuel to the fiery rush of emotions that complete this great release of communication.
